Research Interests

Deeply curious about extremophile microorganisms, I started my career studying the physiology of acidophilic bacteria during acetic fermentation. I joined KAUST with a renewed interest focused on the study of the specific interaction plant-microbe occurring in extreme environments, where plant-growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) help plants to thrive under harsh conditions, allowing plants to cope with abiotic stresses: salinity, heat and drought.
